From the WWE Rumor Mill: Possible update on The Rock returning at WrestleMania

What's the story?
During a recent episode of Backstage in WWE with Brad Shepherd and Jon Fisher, Shepherd stated that he had no information about The Rock returning at WrestleMania.

In case you didn't know...
The Rock has appeared at six out of the last seven WrestleManias and even wrestled John Cena at two of them. The 28th and 29th editions of WrestleMania, which were both headlined by the Fast and Furious Star, ended up being two of the biggest shows in WWE history.

The heart of the matter

According to Shepherd, if WWE does have any plans for The Rock at WrestleMania, the company is being very tight-lipped about them.

A report from the Dirtysheets.net stated that plans were in place for the former University of Miami product to be one of 5 legends that interrupted an Elias segment at the Show of Shows. However, Vince McMahon canceled this idea as he felt the segment wouldn't have enough star power if the company couldn't secure The Rock for WrestleMania.
What's next?

WrestleMania 34 will take place on April 08, 2018, in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Rock has previously made unpromoted appearances at WWE's signature event, so there is every possibility that The Great One could return.

However, his latest film, Rampage, will launch the week after Wrestlemania, so he may find it hard to fit a WWE appearance into his schedule.
Author's take

Even though The Rock is still unbelievable on the microphone and usually has the audience in the palm of his hands, his absence at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome will probably go unnoticed. WWE has put together one of its best WrestleMania line-ups in recent years, and the show will probably be excellent even without The Brahma Bull.
